HELP THE
STARVING MANATEES
At Manatee Haven, you can donate to the starving Manatees and help our cause and help the manatees. Florida Manatees have always faced many threats from boats, winter cold, etc... but this 2021 has been worse than ever before. Around 30% of Florida's Manatee's have succumbed to starvation and illness due to Algae Blooms and die-offs of Manatee's natural Sea Grass beds - just one of the many threats that Florida Manatees have faced this year. While the Sea Giant's population is rapidly declining, Our Non Profit Organization focuses on helping the starving Manatees through numerous protective/research services. Our Non Profit Organization is dedicated to aiding in Manatee research, helping rescue dying Manatees out of toxic environments, rehabilitating sick Manatees, and restoring their natural habitats.
Any donation given to Manatee Haven is appreciated. We partner with Zoos and Animal Sanctuaries across America to assist with recourses and Manatee care, and your contribution will help our efforts. Please take a moment to click the "Donate" button below and help save a Manatee today. Your generous donation will help rescue dying Manatees while natural and human disasters continue to threaten the existence of the graceful Manatee.
COLLISIONS
For years, manatees have been wounded by boats and their propellers. These slow moving sea cows are often mistaken for logs by boaters, who run over the Manatees and end up injuring them with their boat propellers. There’s also the danger of watercrafts themselves colliding with the manatees, causing internal injuries. However, neither of these issues are the leading cause of death.
While the recent Algae Blooms and red tides along the Florida coast are toxic to humans, they're an even deadlier threat to Manatees. As new developments are built along Florida waterways, natural nesting areas for Manatees are destroyed. Sewage, manure, and fertilizer run-off enter the water and cause algae blooms. These Algae Blooms eradicate the Manatees' main food source: Sea Grass. This happens when the algae restricts the water of oxygen and sunlight, which is critical for the growth of Sea Grass. Now that Algae Booms are spreading across Florida at increasingly higher rates, the Manatees are left without food and without their natural habitats.
ALGAE BLOOMS
HOW TO HELP
Historically, many factors have caused a rise in manatee deaths, but no threat has ever been more devastating than that of the recent Algae Blooms and Sea Grass loss. However, you can take action and help save the Manatees today with your donation. At Manatee Haven, we are dedicated to rescuing sick Manatees and partnering with local rescue teams to help with this crisis. Please donate today and support our cause.
